I am a stacking doll. And every year as a new layer is added, I become a more refined person. Yet the old layers rest inside, the totality creating who I am today. This piece includes “iconic” outfits from throughout my life to create the doll-like figures. I split each in half not only to show how they fit into each other but to also symbolize how I frustratingly divide myself into binaries. My current face is in the middle watching over all the younger versions of me, putting them together to create the puzzle that I am today.
